Who we are
FQ Sports is run by FANDEMiQ Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (17177298). We decide how your data is used, so we're the "controller" under UK data protection law. Questions, requests or complaints: andy@fandemiq.net.
What we collect
- What you send: your photo or video, including your voice, and anything you type, such as your first name and town.
- Your email address, so we can send your clip or picture back.
- What you say on camera, as text, only if you tick the speech box. We use it to count predictions and pick out what fans said.
- Your location, only if you switch it on. It's optional, and saying no changes nothing else.
- Your choices: a record of each box you ticked, the wording you saw and when, and whether you said yes to FQ Sports news.
- Technical details: your browser type and language, the country you appear to be in (worked out from your internet address, never sent to anyone), and a random number stored in your browser to group your uploads.
Our systems detect faces in photos and videos and estimate an age range and gender for crowd statistics. Outside the EU they may also estimate a crowd's mood. They never recognise or identify anyone, and no face template is ever made.
Why, and our legal basis
- Making and sending your clip or picture: because you asked us to. It's the service you signed up for (contract).
- Featuring you on FQ Sports channels (social media, websites, screens and videos): your consent, given when you accept the terms. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Turning what you say into text: your consent (the speech box).
- Location: your consent (the location switch).
- FQ Sports news: your consent (the marketing box). It's never pre-ticked.
- Keeping the service secure and working, and crowd statistics: our legitimate interest in running FQ Sports. These use counts, not your contact details.
Who else handles it
These companies process data for us, under contract and only on our instructions:
- Microsoft Azure (UK and EU): hosting, storage, and analysis of images and video, including turning speech into text.
- Amazon Web Services (London): face detection, age and gender estimates.
- Resend (United States): sends the email with your clip or picture.
- OpenAI (United States): makes the AI version of your photo in FQ WORLD, and summarises what fans said across an event. No name or email is sent with it.
- Google: fonts in the app, so your browser's internet address is visible to Google, as on most websites.
When we feature you, your content and first name and town are published on X, LinkedIn and Instagram (posted through Buffer), and are then public. Transfers to the United States are covered by the safeguards UK law requires. Ask us if you'd like the details.
How long we keep it
Your photo or video, and everything worked out from it, is deleted automatically 90 days after you send it. Your contact details are then forgotten if you have nothing else with us. Anything we've already published, such as a social post or a fan film, stays up until you ask us to take it down. We keep the record of what you agreed to, because it shows your content was collected lawfully.
Your rights
You can ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, get a copy, or object to how we use it. You can also withdraw any consent. Email andy@fandemiq.net: we'll reply within a month and take a featured post down within 24 hours. Our emails don't have an unsubscribe link yet, so to stop FQ Sports news just email us.
If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Age
FQ Sports is for people aged 16 and over.
The full terms are shown in the app when you take part.
